The Eagles would extend the advantage to 2-0 early in the 28th minute on Saevik’s fourth goal of the season, a curling strike inside the near post after a brilliant run past several Tusculum defenders.

The Pioneers pulled within a goal in the 35th minute when an Eagle defender’s intended clearing pass ricocheted off Durden, and into the Carson-Newman net from 25 yards out to cut the lead to 2-1 heading into the interval. Carson-Newman’s Munguia would add a late goal at the beginning of the 69th minute off a Howell corner kick to equal the final margin of 3-1.
