DUNCAN TABBED SAC WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEKSeptember 29, 2009ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum College defender Claire Duncan has been named the South Atlantic Conference's Women's Soccer Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Duncan, a sophomore from Greeneville, Tenn., led the Pioneers to a pair of South Atlantic Conference victories last week, scoring three goals, including the match-winner against Brevard on Saturday.
She scored a career-high two goals in Tusculum's 5-4 come-from-behind win at Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday in the Pioneers' SAC opener. Duncan then found the back of the net for the fourth time this season early in the 21st minute on Saturday against Brevard, redirecting a cross from 2007 All-American Courtney Turner into the open goal for the eventual match-winner.
Tusculum, ranked fourth in the NSCAA Southeast Region Rankings, returns to the pitch on Wednesday when the Pioneers host SAC rival Carson-Newman College, the seventh-ranked team in the nation, at Pioneer Field. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
