HARROGATE, Tenn. --- For the first time since 1999, the Lincoln Memorial University women's soccer team defeated cross-state rival Tusculum College 3-1 to break a seven-year winless streak against the Pioneers. LMU improves to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in South Atlantic Conference play, while the Pioneers, ranked No. 7 in NCAA Division II, falls to 6-3, 1-1 SAC.

Juliana Povoa scored the first goal of the match in the 19th minute when she chipped in a pass from Heloisa de Oliveira. LMU made it 2-0 just before halftime when Camilla Verissimo converted a turnover as she tallied her first scoring tally of the season at the 43:22 mark.

LMU added its third goal of the afternoon when Karina Campos found the back of the net in the 55th minute, which was assisted by Becky Thompson.

Tusculum's Courtney Turner broke up the shutout with her first collegiate goal coming at the 89:19 mark.

Tusculum keeper Tori Hadjopolous recorded six saves on the day, while LMU's Courtney Hollis accounted for three stops in the win.

Tusculum returns to action Saturday afternoon when the Pioneers travel to Brevard College for a non-conference match against the Tornados.
